January/February Updates
Happy New Year! We hope all our students and families enjoyed the holiday break!
The weeks leading up to the Family Week break in February will be busy with a variety of learning, sports, fine arts and extra-curricular opportunities for all students.
All students are participating in Junior Achievement; a financial literacy component of the new Physical Education and Wellness curriculum. Junior Achievement facilitators, Marty Neumeier and Brandy Fehr will be delivering student programming over the coming weeks.
Grade 4 and 5 skating and curling have been rescheduled from December and are booked for Jan. 24th (gr. 5) and Jan. 31st (gr. 4).
1Book5Schools is back! Participating schools are Horace Allen, Canyon, Livingstone, St. Micheal's and Isabelle Sellon School. Our school will have our own assembly to launch the family literacy event on January 27th.
After school basketball is available to any interested grade 4-6 students. This program will run January 23rd to February 15th. If your child is interested to participate, permission forms will go home January 17th.
All students will participate in outdoor Physical Education programming at Pass Powderkeg in February. This is a school wide activity for students to ski, snowboard or snowshoe on February 2nd, 9th and 16th. Hot lunch is available for purchase. Check with your child as this form was sent home today.
Teck has graciously sponsored funding to accommodate 6 virtual presentations by "Scientists in Schools". Each classroom will have be given this opportunity to participate. Even though these presentations are virtual, individual kits for students are delivered prior to the event so that students may continue to engage in hands-on learning.
The CNP Music Festival is coming in March. Our students will be performing musical entries and classroom entries in the festival this year.
Our next Tri-School Council meeting is January 31st, 6:15pm at Horace Allen School. Childcare is available.
Take care!
