Family from Syria

A message from Class 4/5E:

We are lucky enough to be getting a refugee family from Syria, who is moving to our community. The family is the Abdos family. They have four children, a one year old, a four year old, a boy in Grade Four and a girl in Grade Seven. We are looking for toys and board games, age appropriate for the 9 year old. The family knows basically very little English, so for the first bit, until they learn some English, will be pretty challenging in terms of communication. They will probably feel quite isolated. We hope that collecting toys/games will at least make life in the home more fun. We are not sure of the arrival date but would like to be prepared for when they do show up. People can bring new or slightly used toys and drop them off in the hamper located in the office. With the efforts of our whole school community, we are confident and hopeful that this family will feel welcomed and supported as they begin a new life in the Crowsnest Pass. Please join us in showing them the kind and humble students who attend Isabelle Sellon School.
